The Holy Spirit has “sealed” us in that promise of inheritance (Ephesians 1:13,14). The Holy Spirit is our guarantor of purchase—He is our stamp—that we are no one else’s but the Lord Jesus. His identifying mark is upon us. That’s proof of our inheritance.
November 2, 1972 Isaiah 1
How God hates sin! Israel was so corrupt that even God was tired of it (vs. 14,15). The sacrifices and festivals had become a burden to Him.
“I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of the fed cattle. And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats (c. 11).
His everlasting promise: “And her repentant ones [with be redeemed} with righteousness.
Isaiah 1:18 – “Though your sins are as scarlet.”
November 3, 1972 Acts 1
Jesus was on earth about 40 days after his resurrection, teaching the apostles and preparing them. His last words:
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria even to the remotest part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
November 4, 1972 Psalms 1
The road to success in life begins with God. When we ground ourselves in His Word, we will prosper. Meditate on it. (v. 2)
November 6, 1972 Matthew 2
The Holy Spirit really uses Matthew to point out the now-prophetic realities of Jesus Christ. Again, he quotes O.T. prophecies concerning the Messiah, showing how Jesus fulfills everyone (v. 12).
God doesn’t want Herod to know about the Messiah. Is this because it is not time, of He doesn’t want the Child nationally idealized, but He wants them to come as individuals.
November 7, 1972 1 Samuel 2
A couple prophetic passages concerning Jesus are here. (1 Samuel 2:10,35). God hates sin because He is holy and will punish it.
November 8, 1972 Ephesians 2
By God’s grace we have been saved through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (v. 8). This saving act broke down the barrier of righteous living and the Law, and put it into one, namely the Holy Spirit in us. Jesus Christ is our peace in the world today!
Now we are citizens of heaven in a growing body of which Jesus is the cornerstone (vs. 19-22). The Spirit holds us together.
