November 9, 1972 Isaiah 2
Some prophecy is here. In the last days people from the nations will stream to Jerusalem as it gains world prominence, the Temple being the focal point. There will be a judgment, and all war will end (v. 4).
God’s day of reckoning: men who have exalted themselves will be crushed (v. 22). “Stop regarding man, whose breath of life is in his nostrils; For, why should he be esteemed?”
November 10, 1972 Acts 2
The great day of Pentecost. Interesting note: the manifestation of “tongues” here were known human languages (vs. 6-11). Compare that with 1 Corinthians 14:2.
Peter’s powerful speech – Acts 2:38. Acts 2:42 – “And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
November 11, 1972 Psalm 2
Beautiful prophecy of Jesus.
November 13, 1972 Matthew 3
Jesus Himself is our example in the ritual of baptism. John the Baptist even remarked that Jesus should baptize him, but Jesus said no saying, “Permit it at this time, for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”
The Spirit descended on him and God above acknowledged Jesus’ sonship.
November 14, 1972 1 Samuel 3
Whenever God spoke to Samuel, though Samuel didn’t recognize the voice, he was willing to respond. “Here I am. Speak for thy servant is listening.” We must listen for God as He speaks and be sensitive to his callings in our everyday lives.
November 15, 1972 Ephesians 3
God’s plan of redemption for all mankind, namely the Gentiles too, was a “mystery” which for ages had been hidden in God. It was his eternal purpose (v. 11).
