Paul’s great prayer is that we may be strengthened with power by the Holy Spirit from within through faith which is grounded in love (vs. 16,17). That we may obtain the fullness of God (v.19).

Israel’s sins will be punished. They have turned from God. An outward sign of their sin: promiscuous women – proud.

November 17, 1972 Acts 3

In the Name of Jesus! What a beautiful Name! Peter and John were going to the Temple and healed a lame man in the name of Jesus.  And he got up and was walking and leaping and praising God (Acts 3:6-8).

Peter then speaks. Revealing Jesus as the promised Messiah and tells them to “Repent therefore and return that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).

We should long for that refreshment—the eternal thirst quencher (John 4:13,14).

November 20, 1972 Matthew 4

Right after Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan. Satan came to work him over and he tempted him in three areas: 1) his material needs (bread – vs. 3,4), 2) His power as the Messiah (vs. 6,7) [Satan even quotes Scripture!], and 3) worldly power or possessions.

And Satan will do the same to us. He’ll tempt us in our daily needs; he’ll try to make us think we have no power over him, and he’ll put visions of earthly glory and status in front of our eyes. But we must resist! (James 4:8).

Jesus then begins his ministry, preaching the kingdom and calls Peter and Andrew, James and John.

November 21, 1972 1 Samuel 4

God’s judgements are always true. Because of the sins of Eli’s sons, Israel was defeated in battle by the Philistines, the sons killed, and the ark of the covenant taken.
